What is substrate?

Substrate is an artificial soil on which plants can grow within horticulture. The advantage of substrate is its ability to retain moisture longer, which is good for greenhouse growth. In order for plants to grow at their best, the horticultural substrate needs to be replaced and is cleaned out in its entirety.
